Interview With Dr. Robert Bowman

Dr. Robert M. Bowman, Lt. Col., USAF, ret. Is National Commander of “The Patriots”, Executive Vice President of Millennium III Corporation, Bishop-Protector of the Society of Blessed John XXIII, and Primate of the United Catholic Church. The recipient of the Eisenhower Medal, the George F. Kennan Peace Prize, the President’s Medal of Veterans for Peace, the Republic Aviation Airpower Award, the Society of American Military Engineers’ ROTC Medal of Merit (twice), the Air Medal with five oak leaf clusters, the Meritorious Service Medal, and numerous other awards, he is one of the country’s foremost authorities on national security.

Colonel Bowman flew 101 combat missions as a fighter pilot in Vietnam and directed all the DoD “Star Wars” programs under presidents Ford and Carter. He has been an executive in both government and industry, and has chaired 8 major international conferences. Professor Bowman taught at 5 colleges and universities, serving as Department Head and Assistant Dean. His Ph.D. is in Aeronautics and Nuclear Engineering from Caltech. He has lectured at the National War College, the United Nations, the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, Congressional Caucuses, dozens of universities, the Academies of Science of six nations, and the House of Lords.

Bob Scheer of The Los Angeles Times called Dr. Bowman “probably the best public speaker in the country today.” In the 1980s, he gave over 5,000 speeches around the world against Reagan’s version of “Star Wars,” and worked closely with senators and members of Congress to keep weapons out of space and prevent nuclear war. He debated Edward Teller, General Daniel Graham, General Jack Keegan, General Norman Schwarzkopf, and U.S. Ambassador Jack Matlock in Moscow He has been a major speaker at Anti-War Conferences in Philadelphia, Toronto, New York City, Washington, DC, Chicago, Los Angeles, Melbourne, Boston, Detroit, Phoenix, Austin, and Sydney, Australia. He has addressed numerous churches, colleges, labor unions, and Rotary Clubs, and hundreds of peace conferences, and has been keynote speaker at Veterans for Peace annual conventions four times. He has been introduced by Ed Begley, Jr., Jane Fonda, Richard Dreyfuss, Ed Asner, Mike Farrell, Larry Hagman, Steve Allen, General Jim Abrahamson, Senator Claiborne Pell, Senator Mike Gravel, and Congressman Dennis Kucinich.

Dr. Bob Bowman ran for President in 2000 and was the Democratic candidate for the US Congress from the 15th Congressional District of Florida in 2006. Bob and his wife of 55 years, Maggie, have 7 children and 21 grandchildren. In his younger days, Bob was an actor, a stand-up comedian, and a song-and-dance man, appearing in a couple of movies and starring in “Pins and Needles,” “House of Blue Leaves,” and “Promises, Promises” (all in London), and in “Roar of the Greasepaint, Smell of the Crowd,” “South Pacific,” and others in the U.S. Bob has been on Larry King, Donohue, the Michael Jackson Show, the McNeil-Lehrer News Hour, Morton Downey, Jr., Crossfire, and the Jerry Lewis Telethon. He hosted radio talk shows in three different states and has appeared in all 50 states and two dozen foreign countries.
